Recap & Action Items
Thanks to everyone who attended and especially those who presented. Everyone else… we hope to see you next time (meeting day and time to be announced soon).
In the meanwhile here are five things you can do right now to begin impacting the lives of individuals with severe autism right here in New Jersey….
Review the Urgency of Now whitepaper on protecting individuals with IDD from abuse and neglect. Share it with others who you feel may benefit. This is an important initiative that directly impacts individuals with severe autism and we need to stand behind it.
If you haven’t seen it already, make the time to read through our summary of the Sweeney Center Housing Conference "Innovative Models, Unmet Needs: Expanding Congregate Housing Options for the Intellectually & Developmentally Disabled." The conference was one of the most helpful and hopeful discussions we have seen in a long time for anyone who cares about someone with severe autism. The more you know, the more powerful we all become.
Review our Policy Committee Presentation from the recent Chapter meeting. It focuses on the NJ bills under consideration that our committee feels are most important to our community right now Share comments, feedback and suggestions.
Come say hello at the Autism NJ Conference. We are gathering on Thursday 10/24 at 3:45 PM at the registration table and will head out from there. It will be a good opportunity for us to see each other face-to-face and compare notes.
And finally, help add to our credibility and clout. Follow us on our NEW Facebook page and let’s each get 10 friends to do the same. During Tuesdays meeting our page grew from 27 to 160 followers. Let’s get it up to 500 before the Autism NJ conference!
If you have any questions or comments, please email us at info@NCSA-NJ.org
